What’s New?
In the coming months more articles will appear on this site that will deal with the early history of golf in this country as well as abroad. You will be able to read the actual newspaper articles as they appeared in the 1870's through the 1940's. So far without any advertising what-so-ever. Over 50 countries have logged onto this site and have spent on the average 5 minutes looking.
In the future you will rewarded with an abundance of material that will be beneficial in searching out your course if it was designed by a Findlay, either Alexander, Frederick, James or David as well as their children Norman and the Loving's, Raymond Sr, and Buddy. Whereas Donald Ross is credited with hundreds of designs, the Findlay's have nearly a thousand designs and builds under their family umbrella. If you are enjoying the information or would like to see an improvement in any particular area please feel free to let me know. I am thoroughly enjoying doing the research and answering your many questions. It is amazing that there is so much interest in my grandfather and his brothers and their accomplishments in the infancy of golf in this country and throughout the world. Wait till you see the new logo above. It is the world golf ball, I am making arrangements for you to see it in the masthead as it rotates, just like our planet rotates. Thank you for taking the time to look into my website.
I do this without any compensation or commercial advertising to pay for the site, nor do I at this time even consider turning it into a commercial venture. My grandfather took great pains to maintain a amateur standing, I think it should be prudent on my part to do the same today. Not everything needs to be about money, I hope you would agree.
